I'm Stefan Magdalinski. I've been writing here since 2002. It slightly shames me to say it, but LinkedIn is more up to date on the last 15 years...
Current interests include security (particularly helping everyday users - fraud, scams, tech-facilated abuse etc), (unavoidably) AI (Claude Code is winning me over), and as ever building online things that make me people feel empowered and successful when they use them.
Here's what I wrote about myself in approximately 2010:
I work on civic tech, data rights, and building things that make information more accessible. Past projects include TheyWorkForYou.com (making UK Parliament transparent), UpMyStreet (local information), and the original Wikiproxy (auto-linking news to Wikipedia).
